The Pulse Race

April 2012. Had an epiphany: a good flowing circuit is all about not spending too long in the corners. It can be a long fast one or a brief tight one, it’s all about staying in the zone, on the throttle as soon as you can, off as late as you can. Which is why the Dorp Loop didn’t quite satisfy, the A to E twisty bit took too much time. This track was an attempt to get that squeeze-release rhythm going. Might look a bit boring but each corner is different and it did the job.

Sadly though this was where we gave up on the digital dream.

    20th June 2011 was the inaugural Osdorp race day. Had a lot of fun with my willing friends. Thanks to the unmatched lane changers, if you want to keep the inside lane you had to use a lane changer each lap. Corner D was maybe the best place for that.

    Following up on the theory of the Pulse Race I tried modelling a circuit on 2 bars of Blitzkrieg Bop. The chicane after the start-finish is the “hey”, then a fast “ho”, then a longer “let’s” and a quick left-hander “go” before drawing breath on the back straight and starting again at the far end….
